This week was my birthday
Be back to reality shortly… 🙂
Tommorow is the eve of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, the most important day
in the Jewish Religion.
Yom Kippur is the tenth and final day of the 10 days of Repentance, which are tuned to
soul reflection of our past choices, behaviour and sins. During Yom Kippur, it is a custom to fast
for 25 hours strengthening the effect of repentance and praying for forgiveness.
It is believed that at the end of this Sacred day our fate is finally sealed in God`s book of Life.
Therefore the birth of the wish – ”Hatima Tova” which is a wish for a ”Good Seal”.
Here is Sarit Hadad singing ”Shma Israel”
An appeal to God
A few words I have roughly translated from Hebrew-
..”You are capable of all, You have given me my life,You have given me everything,
…when the heart cries, time stands still
Man suddenly sees his whole life in front of him
Towards the unknown he doesnt want to go,
To his God he appeals on the edge of an abyss..
Strengthen me my God
and cause me not to fear…””
Avinu Malkeinu- Our Father, our King
A prayer recited during the 10 days of repentance
between Rosh Hashana and yom kippur.
A special version Sung here by Barbara streisand,
with images taken from three religions showing on the clip
full lyrics translated here.
”Hear our prayer
We have sinned before thee
Have compassion upon us and upon our children
Help us bring an end to pestilence, war and famine
Cause all hate to vanish from the earth
Inscribe us for blessing in the book of life
Let the New year be a good year for us..”‘
